MMWF Supports "The Adopted" Documentary

The Monuments Men and Women Foundation, together with its founder Robert Edsel, is proud to support the final phases of the documentary "The Adopted," by writer and filmmaker Rob O’Brien.

The documentary will tell the moving story of the unique bonds formed between American families and the Dutch citizens who have adopted and cared for the graves of US service members at the Netherlands American Cemetery at Margraten since the end of World War II. Through the journey of one American family traveling to meet the Dutch family who adopted their relative’s grave, "The Adopted" explores the extraordinary legacy of remembrance, gratitude, and kindness that continues nearly 80 years after the war.

Through this collaboration, the documentary will also bring attention to the Forever Promise Project, the Foundation's latest initiative in partnership with the Foundation for Adopting Graves American Cemetery Margraten (Stichting Adoptie Graven Amerikaanse Begraafplaats Margraten), dedicated to connecting American families with the Dutch adopters who have cared for their loved ones for generations.
